I have a number of push notifications that are showing but I don't know where to see them or I don't know what they are.

Sorry, I missed your post earlier. The icon notifications you are seeing is actually the day number, thats the only way Apple will allow me to show something dynamic on the app icon itself. To switch this off again:

  • Tap the Settings icon in myCal
  • Tap General
  • Toggle Day in app icon
